Here is a place where you can share stories from our picnics or from other experiences you’ve had with the homeless. Every time we do a new presentation in front of the church, we may use some of these stories.
This ministry has touched my heart so deeply. To know that I am doing what God is calling me to do is an amazing thing.
This past Saturday as we were leaving, a man came up and said, “We sure wish we had a way to get to your church, because we know it has to be full of LOVE. What you are doing here each week is just pure Love.”
As I sat on a blanket alone with the food for our guests, there was a gentleman who wouldn’t leave. His conversation was cylical “I need a job.” Within 15 minutes, another guy runs through the park to our blanket and asked the first gentleman, “Do you want a job?” “Doing what?” was his reply. “Just holding a sign for a local business.” I knew then I was surrounded by a company of angels and was GLAD that Kenneth hung around me long enough to get that job offer. All glory to God.
My favorite story starts, “In the beginning” and ends with a loud “Amen.” Today, and Sunday afternoon, I was cruising downtown trying to locate one specific invidual. I talked to two of our regular guests, including Captain Jack. He’s still waiting on getting his housing, but he is on the list.
This past Saturday we were pleasantly surprised to arrive and see some young men (and one young lady) pouring coffee for our guests. When we talked to them, we learned that they are Navy pilots in training at NAS Pensacola. This is the caliber of folks who defend our freedoms, foreign and domestic. I hope they show up again.
